So is salt bad for you??? Well I did a little research and the answer is NO! The truth is we need some salt in our diets. However, TOO MUCH salt can be fatal.
In very simple terms, too much salt directs the body to retain water rather than flush it through normal processes like going #1 in the potty. This extra water creates a higher volume of blood which creates pressure on the vessels, as they have to take on more blood. It’s like when you over fill the garbage and take the bag out of the can and press the garbage down into it. The extra garbage being pressed in creates pressure on the bag which causes it to stretch and possibly tear. That’s what happens to our blood vessel as they work to manage the load.
This is where the problems begin. Of course we’ve heard of most of the health concerns resulting from high blood pressure including hypertension, stroke, kidney disease, blood disease and heart disease. There is much much more...
For a simple and perfect explanation on the hazards of too much salt in your diet watch the video above from the British Heart Foundation and remember too much of a good thing can be bad thing.
